At Comprimato, we have always believed in a software approach. We have never wanted to lock ourselves or our customers down to one-purpose appliances. So we have developed Live transcoder and other products as a software-only, running on COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) hardware. This approach allows us to preserve enough flexibility and scalability to add new functionality in response to ever-changing technologies – codecs, resolutions, quality.
